About us

Who we are

TVCS Ltd has now become Wound Healing Centres UK Ltd (WHC UK Ltd).  As TVCS, WHC UK Ltd was established in 1999 by Sylvie Hampton, previously Tissue Viability Nurse at Eastbourne District General Hospital, and Fiona Collins, previously Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Brighton. Sylvie has an international reputation for healing wounds and Fiona for preventing pressure damage, particularly in the seated patient.

In January 2008 TVCS opened a Wound Healing Clinic in Eastbourne which is the first Nurse led complex wound healing clinic in the UK.

All of our clinicians share a common goal of commitment to best practice, through promoting and supporting community based treatment, health promotion and education.

How can the Wound Healing Team help you?

Many people have wounds, such as leg ulcers, which prove difficult to heal. Often people are told that their wounds are incurable. This is frequently not the case. At the Wound Healing Centre we have access to state of the art assessment technology, which allows us to determine the exact cause of your wound. We then plan treatment with the ultimate goal of healing the wound. If healing is not a realistic aim (only about 3% of wounds fall into this category), we plan treatment with you to improve your symptoms, such as reducing pain and odour.

How do I know if the Wound Healing Centre can help me?

The first step is to make an appointment for a comprehensive wound assessment. Once we have completed this assessment we will discuss treatment options with you and, if you wish, provide you with a plan of care. Should you prefer to discuss your wound with one of our clinicians prior to making an appointment for an assessment, we provide a free 10 minute telephone consultation.

How do I make an appointment?

Simply click on the contact form, telephone us on 01323 735588 or call in to the Wound Healing Centre at
10 Gildredge Road, Eastbourne, where one of our team will be happy to help you.

What happens if I can't get to the Wound Healing Centre?

We appreciate that some people will be unable to travel to the Centre and in these instances we may be able to visit you at home.  If you are a private patient this will be subject to an additional charge.

What happens at the Wound Healing Assessment?

When you arrive at the Wound Healing Centre, you will be greeted, made comfortable and provided with information. All of our team aim to make your visit a pleasurable experience. Your first visit to us will last at least one hour. You will become acquainted with the nurses in your team as they ask questions and undertake an assessment. You will be provided with information on your wound and you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions. We can also provide you with written information which you can take away.

How often will I need to visit the Wound Healing Centre?

This will be dependent on your wound, but may be once or twice a week initially. You will be seen by the same team of clinicians on each visit to ensure continuity of your care.
